Prasanna,
  Excellent points on managing cannulation site bleeding.  The  only thing I 
would add is my poor man's way to get temporary hypotension for  tying the 
pursestrings.  The "Ninja Death Grip" is where I pinch the IVC  between my right 
index and middle fingers.  Over 30 seconds, the systemic  pressure will drop 
down into the 60's.  I then release my fingers and  quickly tie the 
pursestrings before the pressure returns to normal in about 30  seconds.  Works well, and 
you don't have to deal with the residual  hypotension of NTG or nipride when 
you no longer need it.
