Prasanna,
Excellent points on managing cannulation site bleeding. The only thing I
would add is my poor man's way to get temporary hypotension for tying the
pursestrings. The "Ninja Death Grip" is where I pinch the IVC between my right
index and middle fingers. Over 30 seconds, the systemic pressure will drop
down into the 60's. I then release my fingers and quickly tie the
pursestrings before the pressure returns to normal in about 30 seconds. Works well, and
you don't have to deal with the residual hypotension of NTG or nipride when
you no longer need it.
