Oh Yes,
And vice versa - Curry is one of the popular dishes in Britain and so is
Chutneys etc etc. Cricket is played by more in India so much so that it
is no longer a "British" sport !!
Incidentally , one of the oldest churches in the world are that of St Thomas
Saint Thomas <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_%28apostle%29>;died
around 53 AD in India. He is buried here. Some of the oldest Christian
settlements were in India much before they were well established in Europe.
One of the theories is that Jesus after resurrection was supposed to
have migrated to Kashmir and there is a grave believed to be his
ultimate burial place !!
One of the old Jewish settlements are in Cochin and are believed by some
to be one of the lost tribes !!
Religious tolerance was a feature of India and the Parsis were given a
home when they fled from Persia and when they landed in Navasari in
Gujarat in India.
Probably more of intolerance was brought in when the British came but
that is an arguable point !!
