I agree with Michael.  Unless there is an anatomic problem, I  always use PA 
catheters on a case.  We don't have residents or in house  PA's to monitor the 
patients, so they have to be managed over the phone.   It's a lot easier to 
do that with a Swan.  Ours have continuous cardiac  output, which I've found 
can be a sensitive indicator of incipient  tamponade.
