Dear HSF Members:

I just attended a two-day long meeting held by Heart Valve Club at Mt. Sinai
Hospital in NY. The course directors were Prof. Carpentier himself and Dr.
David Adams.

It is always exciting to see the master of masters, Prof. Carpentier,
perform the live surgeries and teach his concepts with great enthusiasm and
dedication. Our very own Ani Anyanwu was part of the faculty and gave a
great talk on "Assessing Outcomes Following Valve Reconstruction". Another
very thought provoking lecture was given by Valentine Fuster about the new
and evolving concepts in understanding the basis of valve calcification. I
must say that the conference was a superb success on a whole and the credit
goes to Dr. Adams and his team (especially Dr. Filsoufi and their research
fellows) to put together such a wonderful program.

I'm sure Hal will share his comments with you soon since he was by all means
one of the most attentive attendees. Furthermore, it was exciting to see
many back and forth discussions of the faculty of the course from the podium
with Hal from his auditorium seat.

It was nice meeting you, Hal.

Take care,

Faisal
