You have been interestingly quiet on the subject of mitral paravalvar leaks - causes and how to manage them. I would very much like to hear your thoughts on the subject as I am sure others would!

    The mechanism for the Silzone fiasco was 2-fold, or so I was led to  
  believe.  First, the silver inhibited fibrous ingrowth or "laudable  pannus".  
  Second, with the gradual leeching of the silver from the sewing  ring, the volume 
  of the sewing ring contracted producing loose sutures.   Was this your 
  understanding and observation?
    Brrr!  It's 50 degrees on Easter morning in South  Florida.  Maybe I'm not 
  so convinced there's global warming.
