You can use both, but only amiodarone has any (small) effect for prevention. Long ago we used to use dig for preop lungs (in a VA population). It did not stop afib, but did slow the initial rate (but they called us anyway, re sleep deprivation). I think rountine magnesium (unless you have plenty in your cardioplegia) in a population likely to be low preop and beta blockers is your best bet, however.
