[HSF] Valvular disease with goitre

Nand,
Several years back I operated a patient with retrosternal huge goitre and MS+MR.She was in hyperthyroid status preoperatively.Scintigraphy showed diffuse hyperplasia of the cervical and retrosternal portion with several retrosternal and cervical hot nodules.
Preop preparation by propycil+ dideral followed by sternotomy and excision of retrosternal goitre(assisted by a  general surgeon )and continued as usual for MVR.Postop she was in mild hypothyroid status( lower limit of FT3 ) and nothing was done for that.She was lost to follow up( I changed my institution).
for severe COPD and probable tracheomalacia you have to follow the usual protocols.
