good question .... well, if I were in your shoes, with an LA diameter
of 6.4cm, a high risk of developing AF, even after operation, I'd
prefer to do an
atriorhaphy reducing the size of the LA and a prophylactic Maze as well,
especiall that you are already "there" and would not miss a chance of
preventing AF especially with such pathology or MR and large LA diameter.
??? Controlled trials proving that? not to my knowledge ...
