Because he is your senior, and he may hold your job in his hands, he must be right in your hospital. However, in other places, including the literature, he is probably holding on to a belief rather than a fact. I can't remember the citation(s), but I seem to remember that LIMA to LAD, in the acute setting, conveys an early survival advantage over vein graft. This is not to say that in a crash and burn situation, all patients should have a LIMA. In other words, don't repeatedly cardiovert me out of V-fib while you are taking down my LIMA.
