Bob, I remember certain senior surgeons who cut away the glove covering the 
finger they were inserting into the left atrium for closed mitral valvotomy 
arguing that they needed the tactile sensing possible only with the bare finger. 
I have seen urologists doing the same thing for suprapubic prostatectomy. John
