I wonder if the "literature" results would be different if people like you and several other REALLY experienced redo surgeons were to pool their 3rd time redo's together and look at the results?

  Agree about the M&M for 3rd time redos.  I did one last  week, and it went 
very well.  However, in the literature, I'd bet that the  mortality for a 3rd 
time redo valve case is generally at least 15-20%.  For  one thing, the 
incidence of catastrophic reentry is definitely higher.
  One consideration that may change our thinking is the possibility  that 
percutaneous or transapical AVI's will be a viable option for senescent  stented 

aortic valves.
