Subject: [Pediheartnet] Fontan-pregnancy

Dear Members,

A Fontan pts (Tricuspid and Pulmonary atresia) after shunt and classical
Fontan procedure now is 23 yrs old in a good condition. The operation was
performed 16 yrs ago.She had a thrombotic event 3 yrs after Fontan with
pulmonary microembolism.(thrombolitic therapy)She is out my controll, but
she has a good follow-up in a county Hospital. She visited me to ask
what my opinion is about her pregnancy because she would like a child very
much. She is in a good condition, without complain, Tr Po2 96%, and she is on
Syncumar therapy.I recommended a pulmonary scan which was normal. What is
your experience with Fontan people to became pregnant and to have a child.I
told her it shoud be a dangereous situation, but a I would like to get more
information about the prognosis if this situation.

Thanks a lot.
