I totally agree with you. I just got back from octogenarian AVR for heavily
calcified AS in neighbor hospital. I could not put DeBakey forceps through
the orifice. I did meticulous complete decalcification with peering off by
Penfield and implanted 21 mm CEP. That was a routine for me. Patients walk
and eat diet in POD#1 over 95% with no operative mortality. I am also a
classic cardiac surgeon aiming super-fast track. But this is not meaning
that I am not interested in new approaches.
The thing I have been irritated is the definition of success in such new
procedures including PCI. And also definition of the term "innoperable".
Don't you agree?
