I mostly agree with Tom. I use stented valves pretty often for active IE
even with perivalvular abscess. As far as Freestyle is concerned, some
surgeons use subcoronary technique for active IE. But IMHO it is not
advisable due to 2 layer suturing making dead space between native aorta
(sinus tissue) and porcine aortic tissue.
