Dear Nand

I deeply appreciated your detailed explanation to each of my questions.
Everything you said made sense to me. A few years back, I revisited NYU to
observe a complex mitral repair by Steve Colvin, one of my mentors. I was
impressed how naturally oriented the view through rt. thoracotomy was.
Especially subvalvular apparatus can be observed straight down below the
leaflets. Without questions, rt. thoracotomy is good and ideal approach to
mitral valve in ordinary cases. Although I still do mitral repair via
sternotomy.

Sadly to say, I received email notice that Dr. Colvin passed away two weeks
ago. He was the instinctive and talented surgoen. I was influenced a lot
especially with his fine works of mitral reconstruction and pediatric cases.
