[HSF] Mitral ring redux

Mitch,
  Your cardiologists are apparently living in the past.  It's not  even 
debatable that the "pop off" theory is legit.  Earlier this week, I  did 4 grafts 
and mitral/tricuspid repairs on an intubated lady with a preop EF  of 11% by 
TEE.  She came off CPB without a balloon and is currently  extubated.  Her 
post-CPB EF was around 25%.  Granted,  revascularization helped, but I've seen 
similar outcomes in nonischemic  cases.  Do the case and try to educate your 
referral.
