Have you seen problems arise associated with anti embolic stockings (i.e. TED hose) where the patient develops necrosis in a ring like pattern around the upper thighs after wearing the hose?
I took care of such a patient today.
She is 90 and had CABG. Tall, big boned lady with pretty good body, decent muscles even. She went to a nursing home after recovering from the operation....and after some time (don't know how long) it was discovered that she had this wound. Today we changed her wound vac ($ 1800 per week), and the wound care nurse told me that she had seen another patient with such a wound -- also from wearing anti embolism stockings.
