Subject: [HSF] ASD patch

As long as we are polling readers for various opinions, today I saw a 58yo
female with a large ASD (no shunt data yet) seen on a TEE. About 2.5-3.0cm.
She has had 2 strokes with very good recovery...presumably paradoxical.
Apologies for not having all the info, but I was kinda pulled into the echo
suite "...hey, come look at this!"

So I got to thinkin', how best to patch this thing? Autologous pericardium?
Glutaraldhyde-fixed pericardium? Bovine pericardial patch? I know we've
talked about glutaraldehyde fixation: 10% sol'n, but how long do I keep the
tissue in the fixative? Any other details?

More data to follow as it becomes available. I'm seeing her in the office
Thurs. AM.

Thanks in advance.

Mitch Lirtzman
